Spain to win World Cup says Octopus Paul

leave a comment »

Eyes around the world were on Germany’s octopus Paul on Friday as he made his biggest prediction, for the FIFA 2010 World Cup final match between Netherlands Vs Spain. Paul predicted Spain will beat the Netherlands in the final.

Paul’s correct picks in the World Cup have propelled him to international fame and popularity around the world.

TV stations in Germany, and elsewhere broadcast live pictures, complete with breathless commentary, of his final decision.

Millions watched as the eight-legged oracle descended upon on a tank marked with a Spanish flag, sitting for only a few minutes before grabbing a mussel and devouring it, while completely ignoring the Dutch tank – indicating a Spanish victory in Sunday’s final match in Sunday’s final.

It was the first time the 2 1/2-year-old floppy octopus had been tasked to pick a game in which Germany wasn’t involved, as the Oberhausen Sea Life aquarium bowed to demand. He correctly called Germany’s wins over Argentina, England, Australia and Ghana and the country’s loss to Spain and Serbia.

He also predicted Friday that Germany will win over Uruguay in Saturday’s match for third and fourth place.

Octopus Paul predicts Germany third place in World Cup

with one comment

Paul, the oracle octopus, has spoken again. This time he was choosing between Germany V/s Uruguay for third place in FIFIA 2010 world cup. This time he has picked Germany over Uruguay for the third place. Paul has predicted Germany will beat Uruguay on Saturday, taking third place in the World Cup.

He has so far correctly forecast every World Cup game involving Germany Vs Spain, where he picked Spain to WIN and Spain marched to finals beating Germany by 1-0. Since predicting Spain’s victory over Germany, the mollusk has become less popular at home, while Spaniards have offered their newfound mascot protection.

Paul’s pick was carried live Friday on TV stations around Europe. The world-famous octopus could be seen choosing a mussel from a glass tank marked with a German flag, after sitting on the Uruguayan tank for a few minutes, indicating a German victory in Saturday’s fight for places three and four in the World Cup.

Paul correctly predicted Germany’s wins over Argentina, England, Australia and Ghana and the country’s loss to Serbia.

Octopus Paul Predicting Germany Vs Spain Match Result

Octopus Paul Predicting Germany Vs Spain Match Result

The octopus Paul on Tuesday had predicted that Spain will beat Germany in the World Cup semi-finals, and Paul was right. Spain walked into the finals after dumping out Germany on Wednesday 1-0.

Paul predicted six games result for Germany in this FIFA 2010 world cup and he was correct in all of his predictions. With six out of six correct prediction Paul has now predicted every result for Germany’s games in this World Cup with 100 per cent accuracy.

The only time Paul has predicted incorrectly in the past was of the Germany-Spain final at the 2008 Euro Championship. There Paul picked Germany but Spain win by 1-0.  But in this world cup octopus have not done any mistakes in predicting the results of all German matches.

Now with Germany to take on the Uruguay for the third place in FIFA 2010 World Cup on Saturday, all eyes will be on Paul again. Germany had finished in third place when they had hosted the 2006 World Cup and it will be interesting to see whether they can hold on to that position against Uruguay on Saturday.
And for the finals now its going to be Netherlands Vs Spain.

Paul the Octopus: HERO of FIFA World Cup 2010

This FIFA World Cup 2010 became special due to a German octopus. As weird as it may sound, it is true that an octopus is actually predicting the right outcome of the German games. I don’t know if you have heard about Paul the German octopus that is predicting all of Germany’s matches in the 2010 World Cup.

Paul the octopus

Paul the octopus

This little octopus has been named Paul, is a two-year-old. Paul was born in England but currently resides at the Sea Life Aquarium in Oberhausen, Germany. This octopus has a history of correctly predicting the results of major German international football matches.

As, Paul is reported to have correctly chosen the winner in 80 percent of Germany’s UEFA Euro 2008 matches. The people at Sea Life Aquarium came up with the idea of letting this octopus predict all of Germany’s matches in the 2010 World Cup. After having predicted the correct results in all of Germany’s five games in the 2010 FIFA World Cup so far he has become a world known celebrity which gets a lot of media attention.

Paul has already betrayed his own homeland by predicting a German win over England in the knockout stage of this World Cup.

He makes his predictions by eating one of the two mussels trapped in cube shaped containers, which are marked with the German national flag and the flag of Germany’s opponent in the upcoming game. The container that is chosen first by the octopus is the winner of that particular match.

Germany Vs Spain semi-final match prediction – As Paul predicted all FIFA 2010 world cup German matches correctly an given his vote to Germany, but this time for Germany Vs Spain 2nd semi-final match of FIFA 2010 World cup, Pauli predicted Spain’s WIN over Germany. So, it will be very interesting to see if his prediction is going to be correct for the semi final game. Personally, I don’t want Germany to loose.
