Paul the Octopus: HERO of FIFA World Cup 2010

This FIFA World Cup 2010 became special due to a German octopus. As weird as it may sound, it is true that an octopus is actually predicting the right outcome of the German games. I don’t know if you have heard about Paul the German octopus that is predicting all of Germany’s matches in the 2010 World Cup.

Paul the octopus

This little octopus has been named Paul, is a two-year-old. Paul was born in England but currently resides at the Sea Life Aquarium in Oberhausen, Germany. This octopus has a history of correctly predicting the results of major German international football matches.

As, Paul is reported to have correctly chosen the winner in 80 percent of Germany’s UEFA Euro 2008 matches. The people at Sea Life Aquarium came up with the idea of letting this octopus predict all of Germany’s matches in the 2010 World Cup. After having predicted the correct results in all of Germany’s five games in the 2010 FIFA World Cup so far he has become a world known celebrity which gets a lot of media attention.

Paul has already betrayed his own homeland by predicting a German win over England in the knockout stage of this World Cup.

He makes his predictions by eating one of the two mussels trapped in cube shaped containers, which are marked with the German national flag and the flag of Germany’s opponent in the upcoming game. The container that is chosen first by the octopus is the winner of that particular match.

Germany Vs Spain semi-final match prediction – As Paul predicted all FIFA 2010 world cup German matches correctly an given his vote to Germany, but this time for Germany Vs Spain 2nd semi-final match of FIFA 2010 World cup, Pauli predicted Spain’s WIN over Germany. So, it will be very interesting to see if his prediction is going to be correct for the semi final game. Personally, I don’t want Germany to loose.
